Social Studies: Pioneers are our big focus as we finish up the Midwest in the textbook this week. The test for Chapter 8 will likely be on 1/30.
Math: The topics we cover in math this week are: two digit division, congruent figures and multiplying by multiples of ten. There will be a test Wednesday.
Reading: See How they Run is our story in the reading anthology.
Spelling: The spelling test will be on Thursday again this week. You can find the list at https://www.spellingcity.com/users/blewis333
The list can be found under Unit 4 Week 1: Our Government
Science: The class has enjoyed me reading aloud The Wild Robot and you can see below our Friday afternoon was full of problem solving fun. I brought in some recyclables from home, gave the class a few parameters and watched them work together to create a structure for the characters like the one described in the book. When there was discussion about a particular point, they were encouraged to look in the book and find evidence to support their idea. It was wonderful to see the teamwork and idea sharing.
Did You Know: This class is full of amazing helpers. Each student has a job that helps the classroom run smoothly. Ask you child what their new job is.
On the calendar:
1/26 - Reading Counts Winter Party (congrts to Liberty, TJ, Cadin, Logan, Avery, & Madison!)
1/29 - 2/2 Catholic Schools Week
2/9 - Field trip to Sangamon Auditorium and Pizza Ranch
2/16 - No School, Inservice
2/19 - No School, President's Day
