Reading: Students really enjoyed the twisted tale in the anthology last week. Since this is a short week, we are looking closely at more fairy tales. We'll be writing our opinions and looking at different points of view.
Spelling: Since it is a short week, we'll have our spelling test next Thursday, Oct 18. We took a pretest, and lists have gone home.
Math: Topics include fractions and multiplication. Please continue to review multiplication facts with your student.
Social Studies: Last week we started learning about the history of the Southeast region. We continue that this week, and also put up a class timeline that we will interact with for the rest of the year.
Science: I originally scheduled our science test for tomorrow. However, I had not taken Columbus Day into account. We reviewed again today. The test will be this Friday, Oct. 12th. The study guide is set up just like the test. Students will be expected to write complete sentences in the last section. Feel free to contact me via email if you have any questions.
Field Trip: I'm so excited to share the Wildlife Prairie Park with this class. We are going in one vehicle. This allows me to read a few chapters from The Wild Robot to them. We'll also take a bit of time to review for that afore mentioned science test ;) Please send them with water bottles to walk around with (it's a big place) as well as a good jacket (sack lunch too of course). Students are allowed to wear casual clothes, preferably spirit wear.
